Compression garments are not chosen by your clothing
size: they are chosen by measuring. A garment that is too big does not compress and one
that is too small does harm, so it is worth spending five minutes with a tape measure.

How to measure yourself

  1. With a fabric tape measure, not a rigid one.
  2. Standing up, with your back straight and your arms relaxed.
  3. In your underwear or wearing very little.
  4. With the tape parallel to the floor, snug but not tight. It works better if
    someone helps you.

Where the tape goes

Measurement Where
Chest Around the widest part of the chest, at nipple
height.
Underbust Just below the breasts, in the natural fold,
with the tape horizontal.
Chest under the arms Around the torso just below the armpits, above
the shoulder blades.
Waist Around the narrowest part of the torso, about 2.5 cm
above the navel.
Abdomen At navel height, or halfway between
the lowest rib and the hip bone. Without pulling your stomach in or pushing it out.
Hip Around the widest part of the pelvis, over
the buttocks.
Thigh Around the widest part, just below the buttock
crease, with the leg relaxed.
Arm Halfway between the shoulder and the elbow, with the
arm hanging relaxed.
Neck About 2.5 cm below the Adam’s apple, leaving room
for two fingers between the tape and the neck.

If you are between two sizes

For waist and abdomen, take the smaller one: the garment has to compress, and
one size too big does not hold. With reinforced garments it is the other way round: if your
measurement falls right on the edge of the table, take the larger one.

And if in doubt, write to us before buying. The garments are sent
sealed and, once the seal is broken, they cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.

Girdles

The women’s abdominoplasty garment with back, the liposuction garments (trousers above or
below the knee, with or without the abdomen) and the buttock lipofilling garment.

Size Waist Hip Thigh
70 (XXXXS) 54-58 80-85 43-46
75 (XXXS) 58-64 85-90 46-49
80 (XXS) 64-68 90-95 49-52
85 (XS) 68-72 95-100 52-55
90 (S) 72-76 100-105 55-58
95 (M) 76-80 105-110 58-61
100 (L) 80-85 110-115 61-64

The waist decides; the hip and thigh are the check.
Measurements in centimetres.

Men’s vest and garment

The gynaecomastia vest and the men’s abdominoplasty garment with back. For the vest, the
chest decides; for the garment, the waist.

Size Chest Waist Thigh
75 (XXXS) 90-95 80-85 43-46
80 (XXS) 95-100 85-90 46-49
85 (XS) 100-105 90-95 49-52
90 (S) 105-110 95-100 52-55
95 (M) 110-115 100-105 55-58

Measurements in centimetres.

Bras

Post-surgical bra with and without band. Size 80 is only available in the bra without band.

The size comes from the underbust measurement. The cup comes from a
subtraction:
the bust measurement at its fullest point, at nipple height,
minus the underbust.

Bust − underbust difference Cup
14 to 16 cm B
16 to 18 cm C
18 to 20 cm D
Size Underbust Bust, cup B Bust, cup C Bust, cup D
80 63-67 78-82 82-85 85-88
85 68-72 83-87 87-90 90-93
90 73-77 88-92 92-95 95-98
95 78-82 93-97 97-100 100-103
100 83-87 98-102 102-105 105-108
105 88-92 103-107 107-110 110-113

Measurements in centimetres. An example: an underbust of 79 cm and a bust of 96 cm give a
17 cm difference, which makes a 95C.

What the number and the letter mean, why the same cup is not the same amount of breast and what changes with surgery: bra size and cup size, explained.

Chest and abdominal bands

Abdominal band and gynaecomastia band.

Size Chest (under the arms) or abdomen circumference
S 70 to 90
M 90 to 110
L 110 to 130

Measurements in centimetres. Note: the bands have their own scale, and each size covers
20 cm. It has nothing to do with the girdle numbers.

Arm sleeves

Brachioplasty and arm liposuction sleeves, with zip.

Size Underbust Arm
S 70-77 24-27
M 77-84 27-30
L 84-91 30-33
XL 91-98 33-36

The arm decides; the underbust is the check, because the garment
fastens around the chest. Measurements in centimetres.

Chin strap

Size Neck circumference
S 27-31
M 32-37
L 38-46

Measurements in centimetres.

One size

The breast band, the otoplasty band, the
abdominal foam board and Epifoam are one size: there is nothing to measure.

Caring for the garment

By hand, like a delicate garment, without fabric softener, and dried in the shade.
No iron and no tumble dryer: heat damages the elastic fabric and the garment stops
compressing. It is best washed every two or three days, so it is handy to have two: one
on and one drying.

How long do I need to wear it?

For as long as your surgeon has told you. The time varies a great deal
depending on the operation and on how your recovery goes, so that schedule comes from your
consultation, not from this page.

Does your measurement fall outside the table?

VOE makes sizes above and below the ones we list.
Write to us with your measurements and we will tell you whether we can order one for you.

The measurements in these tables are the manufacturer’s, VOE.
