Description
Seamless chest band for gynaecomastia. Not a single seam: it does not rub, mark or irritate.
What it is for
After liposuction or body contouring surgery there is a space between the skin and the deep layer that the fat used to occupy. Compression does three things there at once: it reduces oedema by pushing fluid towards the lymphatic system, it keeps the layers in contact so that fluid does not collect between them—which is what forms a seroma—and it helps the skin adapt to the new contour instead of being left loose.
In gynaecomastia, compression keeps the layers of the surgical bed in contact, which is where haematomas and seromas form, the two most common complications of this surgery.
Having no seams at all answers the usual complaint when a garment has to be worn against the skin for weeks: the seam rubs, marks and ends up irritating right on top of a fresh scar.
It is the alternative to the vest when what is needed is to compress the chest and not the whole trunk.
When to wear it
The usual pattern is to wear it day and night for the first 3 or 4 weeks, taking it off only to shower, and then to wear it during the day only for a few more weeks. This is a guide: the exact pattern depends on the surgery, and your surgeon will set it at your follow-up visit.
What it is like
- Seamless, ultra-soft fabric.
- Adjustment with a Velcro strap.
- Particularly suitable for sensitive skin.
- Discreet under clothes.
Washing and care
By hand or on a delicate cycle, in cold or lukewarm water with mild soap. No bleach, fabric softener, tumble dryer or radiator: heat destroys the elastic, and a garment without elastic no longer compresses. Dry it flat, in the shade. If you are going to wear it 24 hours a day, it is practical to have two.
Tighter is not better. A garment that leaves deep marks, causes numbness or tingling, or changes the colour of the skin is compressing too much and can do harm. If this happens, loosen it or move to the loosest row of hooks, and let us know.
Not sure which size to order or how long to wear it? Ask us: the garment and the number of weeks are decided by your surgeon, according to the procedure you have had.
Size guide
For this garment, the chest circumference under the arms is what determines the size.
| Size | Chest (under the arms) or abdomen circumference |
|---|---|
| S | 70 a 90 |
| M | 90 a 110 |
| L | 110 a 130 |
Measurements in centimetres. Note: the bands have their own scale, and each size covers 20 cm. It has nothing to do with the girdle numbers.
