Description
6 sessions of Renata method draining massage. Renata França’s Brazilian method: drainage with more pressure and a fast rhythm.
What it involves
The Renata França method is a variant of lymphatic drainage that stands out for two things: the pressure, considerably firmer than in classic drainage, and the rhythm, fast and with pumping movements over the lymph node chains.
The logic of the technique is to start by opening the lymph nodes—neck, armpits, groin—so that the fluid has somewhere to go, and then to work the periphery, pushing towards them. It is more intense than Vodder drainage and gives a sense of immediate results.
It is worth being clear about what there is: it is a very popular technique and people who receive it are very satisfied, but the scientific literature specifically supporting it is scarce. What is documented is the effect of drainage techniques on oedema in general.
Who it is for
Fluid retention and heaviness, in people looking for a more intense drainage than the classic one. If you have had recent surgery, we will first recommend gentle drainage: the Renata method comes later.
What a session is like
A manual session, lying down, with a fast rhythm and firm pressure. It should not hurt, but you feel it a good deal more than a classic drainage. It starts with the lymph node chains and then works on the area.
What to expect
The immediate effect of lightness and a more defined contour is the hallmark of the method. It is maintained with consistency.
What it does NOT do
It does not slim you or remove fat: what is mobilised is fluid. The centimetres lost at the end of a session are oedema, and they come back without consistency.
When it cannot be done. It is not done if there is acute venous thrombosis, active infection, decompensated heart failure, an uncontrolled tumour or very recent surgery in the area.
