Description
Hydroquinone-free depigmenting serum from ZO Skin Health. It tackles pigmentation by several routes at once—pigment production, inflammation and surface renewal—without hydroquinone and without retinol.
What it does
A dark spot is not “erased”: it fades when the circuit that produces it is interrupted. That is why the depigmenting products that work almost always combine several fronts rather than raising the dose of just one.
Tranexamic acid acts on the inflammatory pathway that activates the melanocyte, and it is currently one of the actives with the best balance of results and tolerance in melasma; unlike hydroquinone, it does not cause rebound or require breaks. Niacinamide blocks the transport of pigment that has already been made towards the surface, and it also strengthens the barrier.
Papain provides gentle enzymatic exfoliation that helps remove pigment already in the stratum corneum. It is the part you notice fastest, although the deeper work is done by the rest.
Who it is for
Pigmentation, melasma and uneven tone. As it contains no retinol, it is the option when you do not want to or cannot use one: pregnancy, breastfeeding, very reactive skin, or simply the rest days in a retinisation schedule. Without daily sunscreen it does not work: the sun reactivates pigmentation faster than any cream can fade it.
