Description
Mineral SPF 30 sunscreen with a primer effect from ZO Skin Health. Mineral filter and primer in the same step: it smooths the surface and sets make-up.
What it does
The filters are mineral—zinc oxide and titanium dioxide—and work by reflecting and absorbing radiation without needing to penetrate the skin. It is the option with the least potential for irritation and the one recommended for sensitive skin.
The silicones in the formula optically fill in the surface relief: that is what makes it work as a primer and what helps make-up spread evenly and last longer.
Natural melanin adds defence against high-energy visible light, and ZOX12 contributes the brand’s encapsulated antioxidant complex, with a stated 12 hours.
An honest note: SPF 30 filters around 97% of UVB radiation, compared with 98% for SPF 50. The real difference lies more in how much you apply than in the number.
Who it is for
Anyone who wears make-up every day and wants to sort out protection and primer in one step. For intense sun exposure, an SPF 50 is a better choice.
Key ingredients
- Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide — broad-spectrum mineral filters; ZO states that its sunscreens are oxybenzone-free
- Fractionated melanin — defence against high-energy visible light (HEV)
- ZOX12 (encapsulated vitamins A, C and E) — a 12-hour controlled-release antioxidant, also against IR-A
- Silicones — primer effect: a matte, even finish that disguises imperfections

How to use it
Apply generously 15 minutes before exposure, on its own or under make-up. Reapply every 2 hours and after sweating or swimming.
A sunscreen only protects if it is applied properly. A generous amount 15 minutes before exposure, reapplied every 2 hours—and after sweating or swimming. No filter replaces shade or clothing.
New in Spain. A product recently added to the brand’s Spanish catalogue.
It contains iron oxides: the colour absorbs part of the visible light, which also causes pigmentation and which SPF alone does not cover (Castanedo-Cazares et al., 2014). If pigmentation is your concern, that is an argument in favour of a tinted sunscreen.
