Description
0.5% retinol for wrinkles and texture from ZO Skin Health. The brand’s retinoid aimed specifically at wrinkles and texture, not at pigmentation.
What it does
Retinol is the cosmetic active with the most published evidence on wrinkles and texture. Its mechanism is twofold: it normalises epidermal turnover, which shows as smoother skin, and it stimulates collagen synthesis in the dermis, which is what acts on fine lines and takes months to show.
Here it comes at 0.5%, a working concentration, combined with the ZCORE complex, the brand’s signature blend, and with ZPRO, which supports the natural replenishment of hyaluronic acid. That last part explains the product’s third claim: improving the skin’s ability to retain water, which retinol on its own tends to worsen during the first few weeks.
Apricot oil, lavender and geranium are in the emollient base.
Who it is for
Fine lines and uneven texture in skin already used to retinoids. The Spanish portfolio labels it as 0.5% retinol. If your main concern is pigmentation, the Retinol Skin Brightener line is better suited.

How to use it
At night, on clean, dry skin. Start twice a week, move to alternate days and build up to daily use as tolerated. Sun protection during the day.
Contains vitamin A (a retinoid). It is applied at night, and sun protection is essential during the day. Start twice a week and build up as your skin tolerates it. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding: ask your doctor.
Retinol and exfoliating acids, never on the same night: alternate the nights—together they do not add up, they irritate. And on an open or scabbed wound, no retinol until the skin has closed: on an open wound it delays re-epithelialisation (Hung et al., 1989).
Size
